Quick germination but seedlings won't survive
« on: April 02, 2014, 03:22:52 PM »
Hi all,

I seem to have good germination rates with my seeds and germination happens usually much faster than what is written on the pack, so I'm happy about that.
However I have it often that the emerged seedling quickly looks weak, can't keep itself upright and eventually dies. Haven't spotted any predators or bite marks.
Can it be that it's simply too cold? I am in Western Sydney and it's still quite mild/warm during the day and it happened to me with radish, beetroot and kohlrabi which I thought is OK for Autumn.
Any ideas?
Thank you
Michael

Dry orchid seeds sterilization will have an adverse on many of the seeds being sterilized in the disinfecting -solution.
It’s great that you do have germination.
