Grey mouldy looking aphids on Brasicas
« on: April 30, 2007, 09:37:11 PM »
The young foliage on our winter brasicas has been infested by clumps of gey aphids appearing in really heavy density. Becase I can't get to the garden every day to manually control them, has anyone some suggestions on control techniques? A gardener suggested "dipel" - tho that looks more specific to cabbage moths (which we also have). I will try companion planting with Dill per David's earlier suggestion to try to limit their impact.

Sorry not to get back to you on this question, it somehow slipped under the radar.

Soapy water can kill off aphids. Garlic spray is good. If you have rhubarb, a tea made from the leaves is said to control aphids.
