Driveway weeds
« on: November 25, 2006, 09:45:52 PM »
Hey nice looking forum. Maybe you can helpme. I have weeds coming up in my gravel driveway and I dont really want to spray them with roundup. Trying to pick them out by hand just takes forever and if I use a hoe or something that just stirs dirt into the gravel and it cant be good for the hoe. What can I do? :-\

Hi Mooney

It depends upon the kinds of weeds that are coming up. Small annual weeds can be dealt with by pouring boiling water over them or you might want t o try spraying them with vinegar.

If the weeds are more persistent or well established, carefully dig them out with a garden fork as a once-off exercise then maintain the driveway with boiling water or vinegar so any regrowth or new weeds do not get established.

Boiling water to kill weeds is a simple matter - every time you make a cuppa, empty the kettle/jug onto your weeds.

Vinegar needs to be sprayed on leaves of a weed. Wherever it hits will die off. Any sort of household vinegar will do.
